WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY? \ \ Osteopathy is the science of the musculoskeletal system which involves manual external manipulation of the skeletal system and muscles to treat the patient. The central belief of this manual medicine is that a healthy body relies on a structurally sound musculoskeletal system. Only when the bones, joints and muscles are working smoothly and in sequence can the other systems of the body function at their best. \ \ The body is believed incredibly capable of healing itself - and maintaining a healthy state - if barriers, such as structural problems and poor posture, are removed. Osteopathy was developed by a physician in the late 1800\'s and has since gained world-wide recognition as a valuable and effective healing system. \ \ \ WHAT IS ACCUPUNCTURE? \ \ Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine filiform needles into points along the surface of the body, which form ‘energy lines’ known as meridians. These needles act to stimulate the movement of the bodys’ Qi (energy) and Blood to restore balance throughout the meridian & organ systems. It is by this process that Muscular & Organ based problems can be treated through needling specific points on the skin, which often aren’t in the diseased or painful area. \ \ Acupuncture has been used extensively in the East for at least 2000 years to successfully treat a wide range of evolving diseases, even to the point that many Hospitals in China consist of an Acupuncture Ward, where patients are treated with both Traditional & Modern Medicines. \ \ \
