Interior architectural Services
So what does an interior architect actually do, exactly?
Interior architecture deals with everything on the inside of homes, buildings an other structures.
As well as the functional arrangement of all rooms, placement of walls and the sequence, shape proportion and scale of the spaces
It also can be a lay-out or design to accommodate a changed purpose, or a significantly revised design for adaptive reuse of the building shell.
Interior architecture can be described as a combination of interior design and architecture. This includes the selection of interior materials and furnishings, the design of the room from an architect
The difference between interior design and interior architecture is that interior architecture entails interior design, architecture and industrial design, while interior design focuses on choosing interior materials, finishes and furnishings.
Process
The key to a successful project is to follow a design process
Well, I start with design strategy... I discuss your lifestyle and what you want from your new premises.
I ask lots of questions to understand how each space will be used and can work out how much space you need and establish a brief for all the things you need and want in the new premises.
Important part of the design process is to establish a close relationship with the client to create a home that suit your lifestyle and budget
I then get into developed design where we confirm the layout and detail up walls, custom kitchens, bathrooms, and cabinetry and select all the finishes - flooring, cabinetry finishes, paint, wall coverings, and kitchen/bathroom fixtures and fittings.
Next step is to source cost effective materials, fixings and fittings for the project.
I prepare architectural drawings and architectural specifications to meet council requirements, manage the resource and building consent application process, and can co-ordinate pricing or tendering of any building works.
So basically it's my job to manage the whole project, from planning to move-in day, enabling our clients to get on with their day job and take away the stress to be involved in the process of the project.
