John, as principal of Phoenix Antiques can restore antique furniture using traditional methods and can guarantee the authenticity and workmanship involved. Only original finishes are employed. John does not use modern finishes, but relies on the time tested art of French Polishing, using only the finest quality shellacs & oils, perfectly recreating the original cabinetmaking techniques.
John has a "Grand Pedigree," but has also created a reputation in his own right. He has designed the Board Room for the National Australian Maritime Museum, undertaken restorations for major auction houses, been a consultant for the restoration & refurbishment of numerous major historic & public buildings for the Public Works Department of NSW, as well as restoring furniture for many leading city & country antique dealers.
