Having a photographic session booked is a very exciting appointment to have. It's a special occasion to dress up and have someone who is an experienced professional take beautiful photographs for you to keep somewhere in your home forever. If you wish to have really wonderful portraits, there is an element of preparation which needs to be taken into account to ensure that your portrait session is as successful as you expect it to be, there is only so much a photographer can do, if you don't do your hair or fix your tie, the camera won't do it for you.
Family Portrait Photography has been a very popular occasion for as far back as the very first camera. Infact almost every home in Australia would have at least one family photograph. You can have your family portrait taken at your home in your living room, garden or you might like to have them taken at the beach or local park or playground. There are endless options and Family Photography is easy and fun! When planning your Family Photography session it is important to consider the style of photograph you want and the setting.
Baby and New Born Photography is always a very popular option for parents and grandparents. There is no better gift than a framed portrait of your own child or grandchild to mount on the wall. Baby Photography is conducted throughout their entire first year. I personally think that 3 portraits taken 6 months apart works best, newborn, 6 months old, 12 months old, 3 very different stages in a child's first year and 3 very distinct changes. Newborn babies are photographed in the privacy of your home, familiar smells, sounds and surroundings make for a more comfortable baby. The best time for newborn photography is within the first 4 weeks.
Toddlers and Children Portraits are a bit more complicated than babies.... They can be less tolerant of a camera lens being poked in their faces or hearing the phrase 'SMILE' repeated over and over again. For this age group the semi candid shots are best, playing with mum and dad, with their favourite toys, at the local play ground. Of course a posed portrait is often desired and this will take part in the first 5-10 minutes of your photo session as to not distress the child. When planning your portrait session be thoughtful of when your child's happiest or most playful time would be. Morning sessions are generally booked so that the children can sleep afterwards.
